This course is designed to provide a field study opportunity in communities for the aims of learning global public health practices, cross-culture communication and interaction, and alternative community health strategies. Students from partner Universities in Taiwan (Asia University and China Medical University) are paired with students from Tulane University to form cross-cultural teams to research and develop a plan to address community health problems identified in the field study. In this course, Tulane students will travel to Taiwan and visit health organizations at the national, provincial, city, county and community levels.

Lectures and discussions will be provided by experienced faculty from our university partners, government officials, and field-based practitioners in Taiwan. At the end of the course, the cross-culture student teams will be required to make a power point presentation on their identified community health problem and submit a written field report.
